My Indian Summer Collection: Planning

Thursday, September 28, 2017

If you have been following along with my blog posts and YouTube videos recently, you would have seen my relatively substantial fabric stash. As embarrassing as it perhaps may be to have squirrelled away so much fabric over the years, there are certainly many benefits. One of which being choice!

One of my very favourite things to do is riffle through my fabric and plot and plan possible makes and projects. It was while doing this very activity recently that I discovered a few of my fabrics actually paired together rather nicely. Surprisingly so, because none were bought to pair together, and all are actually quite different to my usual colour palette (which you can see a little bit about in this post if you are curious).

And so I started coming up with a little collection of projects which I thought would all compliment each other nicely. I was however, feeling like it was lacking in skinny jeans, specifically a pale mossy green. So I got to work trawling the Internet fabric shops for possible fabrics, but to no luck. And then I realised that I actually already own a pair of green skinny jeans! They are not the shade I was looking for, but do still work with my fabrics very well. And then I discovered another pair of jeans, this time in burgundy, that would work well too...and a lovely soft pink (dare I say 'Millennial' pink....*shudder*) cardigan. And so the concept of a sort of 'collection' was born!

Now, you could be forgiven for thinking that surely this is actually the basis for a very nice little capsule wardrobe? But to me, the idea of a capsule wardrobe is that you have a set number of garments to wear, that all go together very well, and those are the only clothes you wear for whatever set period. This is not what I was thinking of when making my plans because I have tried the whole capsule wardrobe thing, and discovered it is not for me...I like choices! So that is why I am taking the slightly pretentious route of calling this a "collection". My Indian Summer Collection. Which is quite ironic because we most certainly are NOT having an Indian Summer this year (sadly)!
